Samara Beach, Growing Raw and Organic Culture

organic dish, samara beach, villas playa samara.A common interest to eat healthy has united the community of Samara Beach. In the past few months “Samara RAW” a group that has been innovating and implementing the insertion of raw and organic foods into the community daily diet . They will be launching a Market for Organics and Coffee on the first days of December also they   In the town organic fairs that will be held every Friday from 3 to 6pm.

The inclusion of these products to anyone’s diet can be a life changing experience. The concept of Raw organic food implies that you do not cook them on temperatures over 48 degrees Celsius. This will prevent the destruction of amino acids, minerals and vitamins thus making the food substantially more nutritious than regular boiled food.

Having two young children in the house can make having raw or organic food a challenge, however nowadays we have a lot of tasty recipes, including marinated fruits, sun beads pate, Sushi, milk made of Almonds and deserts made of Almonds and honey.

Manuel Scardina, a member of this group offers his testimony, he has had a 100% raw and organic diet for over 12 years and has experience miraculous benefits in his health. “it’s an amazing healer” he claimed, affirming that a raw and organic diet can help people with basically every health problem including cancer and heart illnesses. Personally he mentions that he was very sick and doctors where suspicious that he might be a victim of cancer intead of looking more into his condition he decided to go RAW.

After a few years of raw and organic dieting he recovered his health and lost 110 pounds. Soon he will be 63 and claims that feels even better than when he was 35.

“its not a boring diet it can be extremely fun” He claims. However the warning is that a life style change on your eating habits must be carefully, slowly and guided with expert assistance. Turning Raw and organic overnight can have undesired side effects.

They already have a community in Samara Beach of friends that share this diet and get together for lunch the second Sunday of every month at a convenient location. They all bring their latest recipes with only one restriction no animal products like meat, fish or chicken. Anyone is invited to attend, you can contact Manuel to get the location of the next meeting at 8778-9637.

How to Visit Costa Rica!

Visiting Costa Rica, Samara Beach, Hotel Villas Playa Samara

Costa Rica’s beaches are surrounded by forests, and have great natural diversity. In many of them there are beautiful coral reefs, where you may dive and explore. In addition, depending on the place visited, you have a series of complementary activities, such as: hikes to mangroves, diving, surfing, sport fishing, hiking on trails or horseback rides.
Thanks to the easy access to many beaches, you can make the most out of both coasts. Most of them have warm water throughout the year, so you may come and enjoy the country any season you prefer. If it’s diversity you’re interested in, each coast offers different shades and textures of sand, white, yellow, gray and black, product of the constant crashing of seashells on coral reefs.

Costa Rica is a land of volcanoes, rain forests, waterfalls, and rivers. Adventure travelers can choose from a variety of activities such as rafting, snorkeling, kayaking, sport fishing, surfing, and lots more. The most challenging activity will be choosing what to do!

Costa Rica is a destination with an abundance of thrills and adrenaline for lovers of adventure tourism. The whole year round, and in most parts of the country, whether it is on water, land or earth, you can select among a great variety of activities for all of the family. Usually they take place in natural environments, where you will have unforgettable experiences.

GUANACASTE REGION

These are the beaches located in the Guanacaste area, which offer many options for adventure and recreation. It is one of the destinations that satisfies different expectations of visiting tourists. For those who like sunbathing in the coast, they have radiant sunshine almost all year round. Atmospheres are varied, and to profit from each one of them, you may select among adequate lodging options. If you go for retired places, as the beaches found near the Samara Beach area, there are small boutique hotels, or beaches with hotel compounds like Hotel Villas Playa Samara.

Weather on Samara Beach for this weekend

In them, you may try and combine different activities as swimming, diving, surfing, windsurfing, fishing, beach volleyball and golf. Or simply enjoy the sun while walking along the coastline. You might want to have the opportunity of tasting the gastronomy of Guanacaste, which has a strong indian influence. The products of the area are mainly based on maize, some of them are “bizcochos” or biscuits, “tortillas”, “pozol” and rice with maize, or if you have a sweet tooth, you should try the popular “cajetas”. The positive side is you can reach the local beaches of the area, with direct flights from the United States to the international airport in Liberia, Daniel Oduber, or also by land, from San José and the Middle Pacific.

The richness of Costa Rica stems from the cultural diversity of its people. Throughout its history, waves of immigrants have added to the pre-Hispanic native populations, settling on this land and making it their home.

Presently, in addition to the majority Mestizo demographic, there are several colonial and national immigrant ethnicities that have restored their unique cultural heritage like African descendants, Chinese, Hebrews, Libanese, Italians, etc., as well as native people of Bribri, Cabécar, Maleku, Teribe, Boruca, Ngöbe, Huetar and Chorotega.

Costa Ricans are proud to have had more than a century of democratic tradition and more than 50 years without a military. This was abolished in 1948, and the money that the country saves from not having armed forces is invested in improving the quality of life of its citizens. This contributes to the social peace that makes Costa Rica a welcoming place to visit.

Sustainable use of Ridley Turtles eggs for the community!

The small community of this Costa Rica providence has developed a program that allows them to have economic benefits in return for providing a secure and protected habit for Ridley Turtles helping them have more effective hashing and more turtles reaching the ocean thus increasing the success percentage.

Ridley Turtles- Ostional-Samara-Beach

On the Natural Ostional Wild Life Refuge located in the Nicoya Peninsula, Guanacaste.  You can observe this natural miracle of the egg lying almost year round. To visit this location as a student of the Ridley Turtle Protection program allows you to experience firsthand and onsite as it occurs the majority of the reproductive habits of this turtle.  Also it will explain why the Costa Rica government has issued a permit for the community to commerce a specific amount of these eggs for economic purposes for their community.

The Ridley is one of the seven sea turtles species in the world, it is estimated that over 5 million of them land ashore every year in this beach to lay their eggs, according to the Instructor Gerardo Chavez from UCR.

The scientist explains that when thousands of turtles come to lay their eggs on a short period of time in waves, many of them actually end destroyed   by the nest of another turtle that lays her eggs on top of the previous wave.

Seeking that these initial waves  are not wasted the Conservation programs allows the community retrieve those eggs for commercial use all of the community members that must be licensed to do this have also in return to complete conservation requirements so these turtles keep coming to this shore to lay their eggs.

On a Win-Win plan two out of every ten nest are used for commercial purposes which a great commercial opportunity for this community that has their main income from this activity, by simply reaching to only the affected nests they do not affect the natural balance.

On the other hand the community is responsible for cleaning the beach from natural and artificial garbage that will make this difficult for the small turtles trying to reach the ocean and leaving them pray for animals and birds.

They also work have patrol crews that keep the beach safe at night to prevent unregistered outsiders to illegally retrieve these eggs. Theirs also many restrictions for the community like not being able to have lights after 10pm because the light would confuse the baby turtles reach the shore.

Ostional Tours

It is estimated that over 4 million of baby turtles reach the ocean every year thanks to the efforts  and protection of the community , children of over three decades have been involved and raised on the environment of sustainability and protection of these animals so a high level of conscience for conservation.

Another positive effect on the community which is the local and international tourism that visits this beach community all year long.  They promote and teach every single visitor how to protect and assist the natural process.

Costa Rica’s Oasis by CNN iReport!

Samara Beach Costa Rica

The beauty of Samara Beach-Costa Rica

(CNN) — From rappelling down waterfalls to zip-lining between mountains, Costa Rica has something for everyone who is adventurous at heart. Beyond the canopied forests, majestic waterfalls and impressive volcanoes, it remains a place full of wonder and magic.

“The country is teeming with so much wildlife and vegetation that you feel like you’re stepping into a jungle book that is filled with beautiful pictures,” iReporter Anna Berte said. “There are so many things to do in Costa Rica that we left still only doing a minimum.”

Although a small country, Costa Rica is brimming with opportunity for both adventure and relaxation.

Costa Rica has it all, from the Atlantic to Pacific coast and everything in between,” iReporter James Amerson said. “Rain forests, volcanic activity and the best surf in the world — very few places have such wonderful views packed into such a small country.”

Below, iReporters share their tips for making the most out of your time in Samara Beach, Costa Rica.

Get adventurous

Costa Rica is an adventurer’s paradise — where else can you rappel waterfalls, hike volcanoes, zip-line through the forest and surf, all within miles of each other?

“On the east coast, you can find the still-active Arenal volcano where you can zip line next to it through the jungle canopy as it puffs gaseous steam and molten lava,” Amerson said. “Take a hike through the tropical rain forest in La Paz and gaze upon tremendous waterfalls.”

Berte and her husband went to Costa Rica to have adventures as they crossed the country. They took an ATV ride to a zip-line course through the jungle, made more exciting by an unexpected encounter.

“This was especially fun because you get to experience the countryside and villages of Costa Rica by riding through them on an ATV, and then you cool off by zip lining through the tree tops in the jungle,” Berte said. “It’s the first time you get really close to the howler monkeys who are lounging around as you zip by them. Choose the right zip course, and you can encounter a small wildlife preserve.”

Berte also enjoyed surfing in Tamarindo, filled with plentiful waves, and visited the Arenal Volcano. “It is a majestic mountain overlooking a lush jungle full of animals such as sloths and howling monkeys.”

iReporter Jill Thornton had her heart set on zip-lining and went on several tours. She calls it a must-do activity while in Costa Rica.

“It was amazing to be flying so fast over the forest, with the coast off to the horizon — something I’ll never forget!” she said. “As long as you don’t think about how high up you are, or about the things that could go wrong, it’s one of the most amazing things to do! You just sit back and fly through the trees — a dream come true.”

Exploring Costa Rica

Costa Rica is known for its rainy season, and while it might seem daunting to some travelers, many consider it one of the best times to make your trip. Fewer people visit the country during the rainy season, and the rainfall makes the “whole country lush with vegetation,” according to iReporter Matthew Karsten. He also says that the rain isn’t as unpleasant as it sounds.

While adventure is always an option, you can also take the slow, scenic route and experience Costa Rica’s other offerings.

“If you want to see a ton of animals, Corcovado National Park can’t be beat,” Karsten said. “If you want to get away from the many tourist traps in Costa Rica, I’d recommend heading for Tenorio Volcano National Park and hike to the magical Rio Celeste Waterfall.”

Small towns are also a good jumping-off point for exploring Costa Rica. Starting in these centers will round out the cultural experience of your trip.

“The town of Tamarindo itself is a small jewel,” Berte said. “It’s teeming with life and is full of little shops and restaurants, enough to fill your souvenir scavenging for days. After exploring the town, we did sign up for several tours to explore the rest of Costa Rica.”

iReporter Craig Smith, an avid photographer, was eager to explore Monteverde Cloud Forest, known for its wildlife.

“The beaches of Costa Rica are beautiful, but the Cloud Forest is one of a kind,” he said. “We spent 5 days searching for howler monkeys, three-toed sloths, toucans, butterflies and other creatures. The Cloud Forest is an amazing biosphere. The Arenal volcano is close by and erupts continually providing spectacular sights when the clouds permit. Take time to hike through the forest and experience what it has to offer.”

Samara Beach, Costa Rica

Before you go

In addition to the difference in climate, planning the details for your trip to Costa Rica is crucial. Prepare to encounter insects of all kinds, so find a repellent that works for you, Berte said.

“Make sure your vaccinations are up to date before you visit Costa Rica,” she said. “Also, try to exchange your money before you get into the provinces, so you walk around with colon — the Costa Rican equivalent to [dollars]. Always pay with colon first. Otherwise, go and have fun, no matter what your fear is, just let go and go for it, you only live once!”

iReporter Ariel Matias, who relocated to Costa Rica, recommends learning a bit of Spanish before you go, especially for first-timers. “Ticos are very friendly people and appreciate foreigners who try to speak their language.”

Perhaps most important of all, prepare for a brand new experience and leave yourself open to opportunity. Soak up the culture, try new adventures and leave with a bit of Costa Rica tucked alongside your heart.

“When you’re in Costa Rica and Samara Beach, try and immerse yourself in the culture while you’re there — eat food you wouldn’t normally eat, walk around a town that doesn’t have a lot of tourists, try and have a conversation with the people in their language — it’s a hospitable country, so it will welcome your efforts!” Thornton said.
